Fall Makeup Trends For a Fresh, New Look

10.15.2021

If you’ve spent most of your summer with the bare basics when it comes to makeup, fall is here and it’s time to break out those makeup brushes, pick up a new lipstick, and have some fun with the fall makeup trends and colors. Whether you’re a makeup diva or just like to play a little, we’ve put together some fall makeup trends that are sure to be on the top of your list.

Refreshing monochromatic skin. After months and months of mask-wearing, fresh skin is still trending this season. If you’re more of a minimalist when it comes to makeup, it’s still going to be a hot look through the end of the year. By using a shimmery setting powder, lightly dusting your cheekbones, cupid’s bow, and bridge of your nose, it’s all you need for a bright, clean look.

Another great monochromatic trend is to go with a classic matching look. Taupe, nude, rosy pinks, and champagne tones – use the same for your eyes, cheeks, and lips for a classic, chic look that never goes out of style.

Underliner. Love your eyeliner? This season we’re seeing the fall runways sporting more liner being applied to the bottom lashline with little to no liner on the upper lashline. You can opt for a neutral and wearable shade or go with an attention-getting shimmery blue. The choice is yours! Use a gel-based pencil to create the line and buff it out with a small shadow brush to give a new twist to the classic smokey eye.

Pop of color. We’re seeing shadow focused on the inner corner of the eyes this season. In the past, it’s where makeup artists added a highlighter to call attention to the eye but now we’re seeing more bold, electric pops of color all over social media. You don’t have to wear a lot of makeup to rock this look. A fun shade in the inner corner blended with your fingertip and some mascara is all you need to give your eyes the attention they need.

‘90s lips are back. A lot of hair, fashion, and makeup trends are drawing from the ‘90s grunge decade. For fall, earthy tones and neutral browns in a matte finish are definitely big this season. Another return is the lip liner. Use a neutral brown lip liner to trace the outer edges of your lips, then fill in with a feather motion. Want to take it further? Leave the center of your lips bare and use a slightly lighter shade to fill in the center and blend. After being hidden all those months with masks, the lips are certainly demanding attention this fall.

Ultramodern metallics. Love to play and experiment with your makeup to make a statement? This trend is for you. Metallics with an emphasis on foil-like pigments in shades of silver and gold are heating the season. While the most obvious place to sport these metallics is on the lids, we’re seeing the look on both the lids and lips.
